MEET GENEVIEVE
Your card-shop assistant, available online.
Shopping for trading cards can get complicated fast.
Maybe you found a card but aren't sure exactly how it works. Maybe you're building a Commander deck and want to know whether two cards work well together. Or maybe you know what you want your deck to do—you just don't know which cards can help you do it.
Normally, those are questions you'd ask someone behind the counter at your local card shop.
Online, you can ask Genevieve.
Magic: The Gathering Is Her Specialty
Genevieve is most knowledgeable about Magic: The Gathering, and we're actively building her to become more helpful to Magic: The Gathering players every day.
Every Magic: The Gathering card we upload to our system includes its Oracle text—the current rules text that explains what that card actually does.
Genevieve can use that information to help answer questions about cards, abilities, interactions, Commanders, strategies, combos, and synergies.
And sometimes, she can help answer questions you didn't even know you had.
You might be looking at a card for one reason and discover that it interacts with your Commander in another way. You might ask about one ability and uncover a synergy you hadn't considered. Or you might describe what you're trying to accomplish without knowing the name of the card you're looking for.
That's where Genevieve can help.
You Don't Have to Know What to Ask
You don't need to know the exact card name, Magic: The Gathering terminology, or even exactly what you're looking for.
Just talk to Genevieve like you would someone at the card shop.
Try asking:
“What does this card do?”
“Would this work well with my Commander?”
“What cards have good synergy with this Commander?”
“How do these two cards interact?”
“Can you explain this combo to me?”
“I'm building a Commander deck around +1/+1 counters. What should I look for?”
“I want something that lets me draw cards whenever a creature dies. What should I be looking for?”
A simple question can turn into discovering a card, interaction, or strategy you hadn't considered before.
Her Knowledge Base Keeps Growing
Genevieve isn't a finished product—and we don't intend for her to ever stop learning.
Her knowledge base is continually growing.
As we expand our card catalog, add information, improve her tools, and teach her more about The Surprise Shop, Genevieve becomes capable of helping with more questions.
We're actively working behind the scenes to make her smarter, more knowledgeable, and more useful every day.
What she can do today is only the beginning of what we're building.
More Than a Website Chatbot
Genevieve can also help answer questions about The Surprise Shop, our website, and how things work.
If you're trying to find something, understand one of our services, or figure out where to go next, ask her.
The goal isn't to replace the people behind the counter.
It's to bring a little bit of that card-shop experience with you when you're shopping online.
She's Still Learning
Genevieve is an AI assistant, and AI isn't perfect.
She can misunderstand a question or occasionally get something wrong. For important rules interactions, tournament decisions, pricing, inventory, or anything else where accuracy is critical, we always recommend verifying the information or contacting The Surprise Shop directly.
And if Genevieve doesn't know something today, that doesn't mean she won't know it tomorrow.
We're constantly working to make her better.
The Card Shop Doesn't Have to Close
Our physical store may have business hours.
Genevieve doesn't.
Whether you're browsing during the day, brewing a Commander deck late at night, trying to understand a new Magic: The Gathering card, or wondering if you've overlooked the perfect interaction, she's there to help.
Ask a question. Explore an idea. Discover something you didn't know you were looking for.
